In-Home Design Sales Consultant

Position Overview

ShelfGenie Designers are the face of our brand, working directly with homeowners to deliver customized solutions that transform the way they use and enjoy their spaces. This role combines consultative sales with creative problem-solving. Designers meet with clients in their homes, assess needs, create tailored designs using ShelfGenie’s proprietary tools, and guide clients through the decision process to a successful purchase.

This is a sales-driven position with strong earning potential for motivated individuals who enjoy building relationships, presenting solutions, and closing sales.


Key Responsibilities

  • Sales & Client Consultation
  • Conduct in-home design consultations with homeowners. 
  • Actively listen to client needs and identify opportunities to provide value through Glide-Out shelving and closet solutions.
  • Deliver compelling, professional presentations that highlight design solutions and investment benefits.
  • Confidently manage the sales process from introduction to signed agreement.
  • Design & Solutions
  • Use ShelfGenie design software to create customized layouts.
  • Recommend product options and finishes aligned with client needs and budgets.
  • Collaborate with installers and the operations team to ensure accurate measurements and smooth project execution.
  • Business Development
  • Generate and nurture leads through networking, referral building, home shows, and local marketing opportunities.
  • Maintain relationships with past clients to encourage repeat and referral business.
  • Performance & Reporting
  • Meet or exceed monthly sales goals for revenue, average sale, and closing rate.
  • Accurately track appointments, proposals, and sales activity.
  • Participate in ongoing sales and design training to continuously improve performance.


Qualifications

  • Proven success in consultative sales, preferably in home improvement, design, or luxury retail.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to connect quickly with clients, earn trust, and guide them toward decisions.
  • Comfortable working with technology, design software, and CRM tools.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and a desire to exceed goals.
  • Weekend or evening availability as needed to meet client schedules.
